Postdoctoral position

I am seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow to study the regulation
of DNA replication. The initiation of DNA replication is under strict
regulatory control so that individual origins of replication are
activated only once during the cell cycle. Also, DNA damaging agents
induce an S-phase checkpoint response that slows DNA replication,
prevents late replication origin activation and inhibits subsequent
cell cycle events. We are interested in understanding how the
Cdc7-Dbf4 protein kinase triggers initiation and how checkpoint
activation might regulate its activity both in the budding yeast and
in human cells. We have a variety of molecular tools to study both the
genetics and biochemistry of this kinase.

Requirements: A Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology or a related
field. Experience with yeast genetics, molecular biology, cell
culture, and immunological techniques is very useful.

The Van Andel Research Institute (http://www.vai.org/vari/home.htm) is
a new non-profit Research Center with a focus on cancer-related
research. We currently have 15 Principal Investigators, about 100
scientists and are expanding. VARI offers very competitive salary and
benefits packages and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Application process: Please send a letter or email describing your
research interests, curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of
three references to:
