How long does mRNA survive in dead cells?
On average, how long does mRNA survive in S. cerevisiae after
cell death? We're contemplating a microarray experiment for which the
control is likely to have a significant fraction of dead cells. If dead
cells have little to no intact mRNA, this shouldn't be a serious
problem. On the other hand, it they do, it will introduce complications.
Does anyone know of studies that have tried to detect total mRNA or
specific species post-mortem or that have looked at mRNA survival as a
function of cause of death?
Thanks for your help,
Alan Bakalinsky
