Dear Colleagues,

The Saccharomyces Genome Database (SGD) has recently received a request
for a gene name change and we would like to solicit your opinion on it.
Currently, the standard name of yeast ORF YKR056W is RNC1. The gene
names, NUC2, NUD1, and TRM2 have been designated as aliases of RNC1 in
SGD. The request is to change the standard name to TRM2 (tRNA
methyltransferase). The proposed new name accurately describes the
fuction of the RNC1/TRM2/NUC2/NUD1/YKR056W gene product.

If anyone has any comments about this proposed name change, please
e-mail us at: yeast-curator at genome.stanford.edu

Thank you,

Anand
