POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a Research Scientist in the Neurobiology Department/Molecular Genetic Screen Design group you will need a BS or MS and research experience in yeast genetics, molecular biology and functional genomics. In this position, you will participate on Neurobiology projects that utilizes yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a heterolgous expression system to determine gene function and to develop highthroughput screens to discover novel therapeutic compounds. You will construct yeast strains by a variety of approaches, including complementation of endogenous genes and the 2-hybrid system, to express therapeutic targets and characterize their mechanism of action. You should also have a general knowledge of molecular biology and Microsoft Office computer applications as well as Internet based molecular biology and scientific literature resources. Experience in documenting and presenting research results, collaborating on research projects, transferring the bioassays!
to high throughput screening implementation group is a plus.
