Dear Colleagues,
SGD has recently received a request to change the standard names of
the genes encoding the catalytic and regulatory subunits of protein
kinase A, to reflect the usage that prevails in the literature. The
genes in question, and proposed name revisions, are:
Present Names:
Standard Name ORF Alias(es)
SRA3 YJL164C PKA1, TPK1
PKA3 YPL203W PKA2, TPK2, YKR1
TPK3 YKL166C none
SRA1 YIL033C BCY1
Proposed:
Standard Name ORF Alias(es)
TPK1 YJL164C PKA1, SRA3
TPK2 YPL203W PKA2, PKA3, YKR1
TPK3 YKL166C none (no change)
BCY1 YIL033C SRA1
Note that no gene names will be added or deleted; the only changes
affect which name is designated "standard" in SGD. Please notify the
SGD curators if you have any comments or any reasonable objection to
the new nomenclature.
