Has ubiquitation-mediated protein destabilization been used to make
conditional mutations in S. pombe? My laboratory would like to use this
to shut down the expression of an allele of an essential gene which when
under the control of the weak nmt1 promoter, is still too high to cause
a growth defect even in the presence of thiamin.
