I am writing on behalf of a smallish company, Cell Media, located in
Dublin that is developing three-dimensional dynamical representations of
various Cells. One of these projects is complete, so-called Dynamic Cell,
and now the aim is to move onto the Yeast and other cell-types. The projects
are a collaboration between Springer-Verlag, a large publisher, Cell Media,
and an international Board of Editors, mainly from the US but some
Europeans. I am the General Commissioning Editor within Springer, and a
Professor in Dublin, and currently helping Cell Media to find a good
academic, broad thinking and talented Yeast Cell Biologist to lead the Yeast
Cell Media is composed of computer programmers, artists and so forth. It
aims to present the dynamical workings of the interior of a Cell. It also
develops content, animations and simulations to explain all the processes.
There is also a modest amount of text in its work.
Currently Cell Media is looking for a post-doctoral person in with a
strong background in yeast cell, any area, but a broad overview of Molecular
Cell Biology. This person will help interpret and develop the content, based
on interactions with the Board of Editors. Much of this interaction is done
by WWW, but also board meetings take place in Heidelberg, NY or Dublin. The
person involved will essentially be the project leader. and will co-ordinate
the Editoral activity, so organizational, inter-personal skills as well as
good science are important.
Email me at kenneth at fiacjra.ucd.ie (correspond in text format only
please!)if you are interested.
Also, Medias web-site is www.cellmedia.com
