2-hybrid: inhibitor of LEU2 ?

Hi All,

I am looking for reagents to add to plates that might reduce
the background observed in our 2-hybrid (LexA system) growth assays.
We are using LEU2 as our reporter.
(We note this problem only with a few constructs on -Leu plates;
and for these constructs LacZ as a reporter does work fine !).

Is there any reagent that, in practical terms, might work
for LEU2 similar to how 3-AT works for the HIS3 reporter gene
(i.e. some competitive inhibitor) ?

Can anyone help with info ? Many thanks !

Cheers,
         Rainer
