Scientific Editor
A full-time position is available as Scientific Editor to manage and
further develop the Yeast Proteome Database (YPD). The position involves
interaction with a team of curators who extract protein information from
the research literature, correspondence with academic and corporate users,
interaction with other databases and functional analysis projects, and use
of bioinformatics tools. The Scientific Editor will be responsible for
maintaining the scientific quality of the database through the daily review
of new information submitted by curators and users, implementing special
curation projects, and developing new data services.
With the completion of the Yeast Genome Sequencing Project, YPD is a
database for the entire yeast proteome. Yeast genome/proteome information
is used not only in basic yeast research and antifungal research, but by
genome researchers seeking to annotate genes for other organisms and by
researchers from all fields who find genes with homologs in yeast. YPD
serves the academic, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical communities. YPD can

The position requires advanced training, preferably a Ph.D. degree with
yeast research experience, and excellent writing, literature, and computer
skills. The candidate must be able to work on-site in Beverly, MA.
