Hot Tips For Large-Scale SGD Searches

It has come to our attention that a number of Saccharomyces Genome
Database (SGD) users are performing large-scale and/or repetitive
searches of the SGD database.  Here is an excellent tip that will make
many of these searches much more efficient and save the database some
grief at the same time.  SGD has a site which will allow any user to
FTP a huge number of datasets that contain virtually everything one
might want to search in SGD.  The datasets can then be organized and
searched much more efficiently using scripts generated by the user on
their own computer.  We strongly encourage anyone who wishes to access
large quantities of information to send us a message for more useful
