                                  UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE
                               Department of Biochemistry
                             POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT
                                Yeast Molecular Genetics

Applications are invited for the above 3-year position in the laboratory of Dr. Michael
Stark, which is funded as part of a European Community TMR network involving seven leading
European yeast cell cycle laboratories. The post could be made available immediately but a
start date within the next few months is required. The research will focus on the
requirement for type 1 protein phosphatase (PP1) in mitosis and its role in chromosome
segregation and kinetochore function in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The starting salary (on
the RA1A scale) will be according to age and experience. Expertise in yeast molecular
biology would be advantageous but is not essential. Because this is a TMR post, the
appointee must be a national of one of the EC member states, Israel or Liechtenstein and, if
currently working in the UK, must have been here for less than 18 months.
