To study the mechanism of yeast chromosome condensation and its
regulation during the cell cycle.
Research interests of the lab include determining the role of DNA
topoisomerase I in mitotic chromosome condensation (see Castaño et al.
(1996) Genes and Development 10, 2564-2576) and the mechanism of
action of the anti-tumor drug camptothecin, which targets DNA
topoisomerase I.
