Hi Michael!

I'm not sure if you've already run across these articles -
unfortunately, they are not very recent but maybe they may have
something of use to you in them:

Roman H.A. (1956) A system selective for mutations affecting the
synthesis of adenine in yeast. C.R. Lab, Carlsberg, Ser. Physiol.,
26: 299-315

R. Woods and J. Jackson. (1973) The accumulation of glycineamide
ribotide by ade3 and ade8 mutants of S. cerevisiae. Biochem. Biophys.
Res. Commun. 53: 787-793.

C.R. Fisher (1969) Enzymology of of the pigmented adenine requring
mutants of Saccharomyces and Schizosaccharomyces . Biochem. Biophys.
Res. Commun. 34: 306-310

They were cited in a paper using this sytem to detect the timing of
UV-induced mutagenesis (Eckhart and Haynes (1977) Mutat. Research 43:
327-338). I'm sure there must be something more recent, but when I
looked for more recent information concerning this system, I didn't
have much luck. If you happen to find something more recent than
this, I'd appreciate hearing of it!

Good luck and hope this helps even a little!

Kath
