Prof. J.B. Gibson
Acting Director, RSBS

Dear John,

I seek approval to advertise a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Yeast
Molecular Genetics. The majority of funding for this post comes from
the 1996 Strategic Development Initiative, $40,000 per annum, and the
balance from savings within the Group that will occur in 1998 on the
retirement of Erika Wimmer at the end of this year. The appointee will
be expected to undertake research, outlined in the Strategic Development
Proposal, into nuclear-mitochondrial genome interactions by
transformation of mitochondria in yeasts using the gene delivery gun
that has recently been ordered by Prof. John Andrews and myself. It is
hoped that an appointee will be able to commence early in 1998.

Enclosed with this letter is a draft advertisement and a list of
Selection Criteria.
