Section conveners required for virtual cell biology conference
The first virtual conference in cell biology has been planned for November
1997. A number of people are required to act as conveners for the various
sections of the conference. It is hoped that the conference will cover most of
the current important areas of research in cell biology.
At the moment, the conference is in the early planning stages. If you would be
interested in assisting with the scientific organisation of the conference,
then please contact me by email (brett at bmc.org.uk).
Typically, the work would mainly involve the checking of submitted papers,
abstracts etc. - much like reviewing traditional papers. In return you would
get free admission into the conference, and the chance to experience a new
means of communicating scientific information that will no doubt prove
extremely popular in time.
The conference runs over two weeks to enable plenty of time for discussion,
and also to enable delegates to carry on with other work while the conference
is in progress.
If you are interested, then please let me know and I will send further
details. Additionally, some useful WWW addresses are shown below:
http://www.vei.co.uk - the company organising the conference.
http://www.vei.co.uk/projects/interview.html - a transcript of an article
published in the September 1996 edition of Trends in Cell Biology, outlining
the principles involved in organising and attending a cell biology virtual
A WWW site specifically for the cell biology conference will be opened
shortly, and will be accessible from the VEI main site.
