Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral Position available immediately in the field of
RNA processing. My laboratory uses the yeast
Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model system to study the
pre-mRNA splicing process. A 3-step approach is being
used; traditional yeast genetics is used to identify genes
involved in the splicing process, molecular genetic
techniques are used to isolate these genes and to determine
their importance to cell growth and splicing in vivo, and
biochemical techniques are used to evaluate the
contributions of individual splicing factors to the
assembly and function of the spliceosome in vitro. Skills
in molecular biology and biochemistry are desired. This is
an NIH-funded postdoctoral position. Given the difficulty
in evaluating international applicants, US citizens or
current residents will be given priority in the review
process. Apply to rymond at pop.uky.edu or write: Dr. Brian
C. Rymond, T.H. Morgan School of Biological Sciences,
University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY 40506-0225.
