What the hell is this??? Does this mean that to prevent spamming
on this newsgroup, we'll need to collect some money from everyone
on the yeast mailing list?

I agree this is pretty bogus. But, people do have the right to send
whatever e-mail they want, sort of. I can think of a few possible
solutions. One is to ignor the postings if they are not too frequent.
Two, if the postings from a single spam source are too frequent,
would be to contact, in this case, cine.net and complain that their
user is being a nuisance, and should be kicked off. Another would
be an "electronic moderator" that automatically rejected (ate) postings
either from a specific sender (hdlco at cine.net), or from all non-
subscibers to the list. A third possibility is a moderator to manually
filter things out, but personally, I am in favor of more freedom and
less censorship.
