Kirin Brewery is Japanese leading beer company and now diversifying
its business fields such as pharmaceutical business, agribio business
and yeast-related fine chemical business. Central Laboratories for Key
Technology (Key-tech Lab) of Kirin Brewery is developing of the basic
technology in the biotechnology area for above mentioned field. The
Key-tech lab is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for two
year period for the Contribution of Basic Research for production
technology of recombinant protein using nonconventional yeast (Candida
utilis and Candida boidinii). We have already developed a
transformation system for food yeast Candida utilis (J. Bacteriol,
Dec. 1995,p.7171) and also been studying methanol yeast Candida
boidinii. High expression systems have established, so next project is
high secretion system which will require basic research for secretion
machinery. We expect a postdoctoral fellow to join this project. The
successful candidate for this fellowship position has a background for
biotechnology, especially molecular biology. English native speaker is
preferable. Annual salary for 30 years old is about $50,000. Housing
