Apologies for the sloppy use of the word "constitutive" to describe
the ADH1 promoter, which all the (very useful) data presented in the
last few posts makes it abundantly clear is in fact regulated.
The sense intended was that the promoter produces a substantial
quantity of LexA-fusion under all media conditions required for two-
hybrid work: regrettably, none of the people reviewing the Red Book
article caught the misused terminology. If and when the Red Book
editors get around to processing an update of the article, this and
other points will be corrected.
