I'm am curious why purported "overexpression" of the vertebrate tumor
suppressor kills yeast (S. cerevisiae). Are one or another of the
functional domains of p53 homologously present in budding yeasts? My very
recent genbank+EMBO+PIR etc. data base search showed nothing for budding
yeasts but did show suppressor genes (dehydrogenases) for p53 growth
suppression in fission yeast (S. pombe).
Thanks in advance,
