There is no suggestion in the literature that ADH1 is constitutively
expressed in the sense that you could use it like actin on your Northern.
In fact, the literature on heterologous expression suggests that ADH1
expression is enhanced in saturated cultures that have accumulated ethanol.
This makes sense of course. One method for increasing yield from an
ADH1-YFG expression construct that I saw was to keep adding glucose to the
media, allowing both ethanol and cell mass to accumulate. Maybe adding
ethanol helped too. I can't remember the details.
