Dear Patty,
you can compare your sequence against all of the sequences using the
blast program. If you simply want to see if your sequence is present
in the database, then blastn will do the job.
The BLAST E-mail server address is: blast at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
as a first message send: help
and it will return you two messages: one on how to use the E-mail
server, and one on the blast program, and the different parameters
which are available.
If you have any questions about this program, then you can send your
questions to blast-help at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. I included some of the
other NCBI services below.
