NIH-funded postdoctoral research position immediately available at The
Wadsworth Center, NYS Dept. of Health, Albany, NY to study various aspects
of glycoprotein biosynthesis, processing and secretion in numerous yeast
strains. Studies are focused on, but not limited to: 1) N- and O-linked
glycoprotein oligosaccharide structures using enzymatic, chemical, and
physical means (MS, NMR); 2) purification and characterization of glycosi-
dases and sugar transferases; 3) effects on normal glycan processing by
heterologous expression of novel sugar transferases; 4) targetting and com-
partmental retention of sugar transferases _in vivo_; 5) regulation of
glycan structure through transferase specificity and/or subcompartmenta-
tion; and 6) x-ray crystallography of endo- and exoglycosidases.

The Wadsworth Center has made a major commitment to our Structural Biology
Program by establishing extensive core facilities in confocal and electron
miscroscopy, ESMS and MALDITOF MS, x-ray diffraction, high-field NMR (under
development), and biochemical characterazition. Initial appointment, commen-
surate with experience, is for one year with reappointment by mutual consent.
Candidates with an interest and expertise in any of the above research areas
should contact Dr. Robert B. Trimble by e-mail (Robert.Trimble at wadsworth.org),
phone (518/474-5511) or send a CV with inquiry to Wadsworth Center C-535,
PO BOX 509, Albany, NY 12201-0509.
