Tue Oct 4 12:41:57 EST 1994

Postdoctoral Position
U.S. Plant, Soil and Nutrition Laboratory
Cornell University, Ithaca, New York 14853

A postdoctoral position is available immediately to study the molecular
biology of plant K+ transporters, using yeast as a heterologous expression
system. We have cloned a series of plant K+ transporters and are currently
studying them to better understand the mechanisms and regulation of
K+ transport into and within the plant. The successful candidate will join
the laboratory of Dr. Leon Kochian at Cornell University and will be involved
in collaborative research with the laboratory of Dr. William Lucas at the
University of California, Davis. Research to be undertaken entails the
characterization of cloned transporters using yeast as a heterologous
expression system, and using yeast to recover additional transport cDNAs. The
applicant should have expertise in the fields of yeast genetics and
molecular biology. Applicants should send their curriculum vitae, a letter
describing their research experience and interests, and the names and phone
numbers of three references to Dr. Leon Kochian, U.S. Plant, Soil and
Nutrition Laboratory, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853; phone number:
607-255-2454; Fax: 607-255-2459; Email address: lvk1 at cornell.edu.
