The following message was previously posted on Methods and
Reagents. However, in an effort to reach as many MATCHMAKER
Supplement users possible, we felt we should also submit this
posting to the Yeast Newsgroup.

_______________________________________________________________

In addition to notifying CLONTECH customers directly, we are
posting this notice on Methods and Reagents because we feel
it will be the quickest way to convey important information
concerning our MATCHMAKER Two-Hybrid Supplement (Cat. #K1605-D).

We recently identified a problem with the histidine reporter
construct in the cycloheximide resistant HF7c.cyh yeast
strain contained in the MATCHMAKER Supplement. Thus, this
strain cannot be used for Two-Hybrid library screening. We
are working to resolve this situation as soon as possible.
Individuals who have already purchased this system will
receive notification by mail describing the problem and
outlining the steps we have taken to correct it.

We would like to reassure all our customers that this situation
only concerns the cycloheximide resistant HF7c.cyh yeast strain
in the MATCHMAKER Supplement which was introduced in July of
this year. There is no problem with the standard HF7c yeast
strain described by Feilotter, et al (1994, Nucleic Acids
Res. 22:1502-1503) and present as a component of the original
MATCHMAKER System (Cat. #K1605-1) that we introduced almost 1
year ago. In fact, although the HF7c strain in the MATCHMAKER
System is not cyclohexamide resistant, it can be used for library
screening purposes with the pAS2 plasmid contained in the
MATCHMAKER Supplement.

We apologize for any inconvenience and we are doing everything
possible to resolve this situation as quickly as we can. We
appreciate your understanding and patience. If you purchased
the MATCHMAKER Supplement (K1605-D), please contact CLONTECH
Technical Service at your convenience. Customers outside the
U. S. should contact their local distributor.

Thank you,
