                       FACULTY POSITION - MOLECULAR GENETICS
                            THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY

The Department of Molecular Genetics at The Ohio State University is
initiating a search for a tenure track faculty member at the Assistant
Professor level. We are particularly interested in applicants who are using
molecular genetic approaches to study important topics in molecular, cell and
developmental biology using experimental systems such as yeast, Caenorhabditis,
zebra fish, mice, and humans. However, highly qualified applicants with other
research specialties within the broader area of molecular genetics will also be
considered seriously. A highly competitive recruiting package is available,
which includes an attractive (hard money) salary, laboratory space in a new
building, and substantial funds for equipment purchase and initial operating
expenses.

The Ohio State University is undergoing a major expansion in the
Molecular Life Sciences which will involve the hiring of at least 30 new
faculty over the next four years. The Department of Molecular Genetics will
play a central role in this expansion. Women and members of minority groups
are enthusiastically encouraged to apply. The Ohio State University is the
flagship institution of the state's higher education system. It is located in
the state capital, Columbus, which is a growing, yet highly affordable,
metropolitan area of about 1.3 million people. Columbus has been ranked by
Newsweek as one of the country's best places to live and work. Applications
should include a detailed curriculum vitae, a description of research
experience, a statement of the nature of the planned independent research
program, and the name, address and telephone number of four scientists who have
agreed to serve as references. Applications will be accepted until suitable
candidates are hired. Review of applications will begin during January, 1995.
Information about our Department can be obtained by calling our offices at
614-292-8084. Application materials should be sent to: Dr. Alan M. Lambowitz,
Molecular Genetics Search, Department of Molecular Genetics, The Ohio State
University, 484 West 12th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43210.

The Ohio State University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action
Employer. Qualified women, minorities, Vietnam-era Veterans, disabled veterans
and the disabled are encouraged to apply.
