Budding in Yeast

Hello,
Let me try this one more time. Can anyone out there in Netland
think of a reason budding yeast bud instead of undergoing fission
like most other cell types? The only possible explanation I can
come up with is that budding makes it possible to complete division
more quickly. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kati
