A fully-funded, two-year postdoctoral associate position is available
immediately in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the
University of Minnesota in Duluth. The successful applicant will join an active
NIH- and NSF-funded research group studying the molecular mechanism of iron
uptake and its regulation in eukaryotic cells. Current areas of research
include a) the analysis of the transcriptional regulation of iron uptake genes
in Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Cell 76:403-410) and b) the isolation and
characterization of iron transporters from yeast and higher eukaryotes. A Ph.D.
in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field is required and research
experience in yeast molecular biology, gene expression and/or transport
biochemistry is desirable. Salary rate is negotiable and will be set
commensurate with experience. The position may be extended depending on the
availability of funds.
