A proposal to post a list of newly reported Saccharomyces sequences
three times a week.
As part of our sequencing center we process the new sequences
available in GenBank and extract all the Saccharomyces cerevisiae
sequences. I propose to begin sending a list of these new sequences to
the Yeast BioSci group. The lists are typically very small, about 3-10 new
sequences per message, and will be sent three times a week (Tuesday,
Thursday, and Saturday).
If you are opposed to these three new messages a week being sent to
the Yeast group please let me know. I propose to start sending the
messages next week.
Below is an example of the last report from April 23 which only found
three new sequences. The first line of an entry includes the GenBank
Locus name, Accession Number, length, type, GenBank Section
abbreviation, and date of last change of the entry at GenBank. The
second line is the Description line.
SCU08352 U08352 3647bp DNA PLN 22-APR-1994
Saccharomyces cerevisiae putative carrier protein (SHM1) gene, complete cds.
YSCNDK D13562 678bp ds-DNA PLN 23-APR-1994
Yeast YNK gene encoding nucleoside diphosphate kinase.
YSCNES24 D15052 3162bp ds-DNA PLN 23-APR-1994
Yeast gene for NES24, complete cds.
Note that while we process the cumulative updates from NCBI GenBank
all new sequences reported to DDBJ, EMBL, and LANL will also be
included. All the databases share new sequence submissions with each
other.
