jbhogen asks about improving transformation frequencies using
electroporation.
We have found, in our strain background (SK1), that despite what is said,
addition of carrier DNA does make a difference (optimally, about 12.5-25
micrograms of sonicated heterologous DNA/transformation)--about 10-fold
with circular plasmids. We had to optimize, though--higher amounts
inhibited. You might want to try that.
