RESEARCH ASSOCIATE for the University of Maine Automated DNA Sequencing
Facility and Freezer Program. The half-time, one year appointment is
available January 1, 1999, with renewal contingent upon available funding.
The candidate will be expected to assist with automated sequencing, editing
of DNA sequence data, management of the University Freezer Program and
general laboratory maintenance. The candidate will also be expected to
assist with teaching and training programs on DNA sequence analysis.
Applicants must have a masters or a bachelor's degree in one of the
biological sciences. Under certain circumstances, experience may be
substituted for the degree requirement. Experience with automated DNA
sequencing and DNA sequence analysis, basic word processing, general
familiarity with recombinant DNA techniques (e.g., PCR amplification, DNA
isolation and quantification) are highly desirable. Excellent teaching,
organizational and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
Salary range is $11,000-14,000/year for a half-time appointment. Send
