Lecturer/Director of Undergraduate Studies--involving teaching,
advising, and administrative responsiblities to begin fall semester
1997. This is a 12-month full-time position, renewable annually, with a
salary range of $35,000-40,000.
The Department of Entomology at the University of Maryland is part of
the College of Life Sciences. Entomology faculty teach courses within
the department and contribute to a college-wide biology curriculum.
The successful candidate will be responsible for directing all facets
of the Department's involvement in the undergraduate program. The
Director will be expected to teach at least one undergraduate biology or
entomology course per semester. Additional duties include coordination
of academic advising; course scheduling; training teaching assistants;
maintaining Departmental teaching facilities; and undergraduate
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in a biological science and previous
professional experience in higher education are required. Previous
college level teaching experience is preferred. Excellent teaching
skills and enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching are essential.
Training in entomology is desirable but not required.
