: BAsed on your past comments I would not expect you to be friends with an

The women in question is a widow for the past 8 years, even before she lost
her husband she was in permanent employment and pretty high up in management
for many years untill recently when the company she was working for went bankrupt
and she was made redundant, she has children and jointly supported them with her
husband untill he died, she now rely on state benefits.

I believe the original arguement was one of consent between the students
and their tutor whether a particular subject (women in science) should be taught
however its was not understood if this self imposed subject was a compulsory
part of their course and as a result her male student excercise their freedom
of choice and rejected this idea. My opinion was that any move to the teaching
of the subject in question should at least involve both area of contributions
(in this case "Men and Women in Science") without prejudice to one gender or
the other in accordance with equal opportunities. I am not suggesting that
the propose subject be ignored, however if it is to be taught without the
consideration for the other then I would suggest a more suitable avenue for
such lesson to be taught (like women's studies).
However unfortunate surrounding the circumstances of "women in science"
in the past should not plague the mind of today's students.
