It's been interesting following this discussion about name changes since
here in the province of Quebec (Canada) some people feel we have the
opposite problem! Any woman married after 1981 is legally _not_
recognized by their husband's name (although some people use it
unofficially for social purposes). So it was easy for me to keep my own
name (which is what I wanted to do anyway).
WRT kids names, they have my last name as one of their middle names and my
husband's last name - hyphenation was going to be too long and bulky. Once we
had kids I had to let people know at work that a call for Mrs da Roza was for
me since the daycare/pediatrician/school often uses the child's last
name for the mother. So I have a double identity now - like Dr. Jekyll and
Mr. Hyde but in a nice way!
