I am studying the encoding of visual scenes by retinal ganglion cells in
the larval tiger salamander. We are interested in constructing visual
stimuli that reflect the statistics of natural scenes for this animal.
(We are doing information-theoretical analysis and want to determine
if/how coding efficiency depends on stimulus structure.)
Does anyone know of existing data, especially for the spatial and temporal
frequency spectrum and correllation structure, for the native environment
of this animal?
