Are peanuts toxic?

The fungi you have heard about are likely ones which produce a substance
known as aflatoxin, which may be carcinogenic.  However, this fungus
attacks peanuts most often due to improper storage; such improper storage
is now rare.  The ones you buy in stores should be just fine.
