Postdoctoral opportunity in ecogenetics

The following is a slightly embellished version of an advertisement that
recently appeared in "Genetics" describing the availability of a
postdoctoral position in this laboratory. It offers a good opportunity for
a well-trained individual who is interested in the interface between
genetics and the environment from the molecular point of view. Interested
persons are encouraged to contact me (Iain Cartwright) directly by e-mail in
the first instance. This is a re-posting of a notice that previously
appeared at this site.

                      POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

A postdoctoral position is available immediately to pursue research on the
study of genes
involved in individual genetic variability in response to environmental
toxicants. Studies currently underway are based in the Drosophila model
system and are focussing on the molecular identification and
characterization of genes conferring tolerance to heavy metal toxicity, in
particular lead, with a view to extending these studies to the mammalian
situation as appropriate. Candidates should have a strong background in a
range of molecular genetic techniques, in particular PCR, with some
experience in quantitative genetic analysis being highly desirable but not
absolutely required. The position is available for 2-3 years. Interested
individuals should respond (preferably by e-mail) by sending a curriculum
vitae, a brief statement of research background and interests, and the names
of three references to: Iain L. Cartwright, Ph.D., Department of Molecular
Genetics, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, P. O. Box 670524,
Cincinnati, OH 45267, U.S.A. FAX: 513-558-8474; Email:
