Some patents have been filled by Abbott and Chiron concerning specific
oligonucleotides used for the detection of Chlamaydia trachomatis.
Concerning Chlamydia pneumoniae, a patent has been filled by the research
team that discovered it: Campbell et al. from the Washington Research
Foundation. I do not know the exact legal status but it seems it has been
issued, since only issued US pat. are published and I have a copy of it:
US 5350673, from Sep. 27 1994. The patent is covering the whole organism.
