HOW WIDE IS ANTIBODY'S BITE?

Dear folks!

Could anyone tell me what is the necessary length of a spacer
between two repeated epitopes?

I am trying to design an expression construct tagged with a couple of
Hemagglutinin epitopes (YPYDVPDYA). I'd like to have two of them in a
row in order to get a stronger signal in transfected cells. Now, how long
should be a spacer in between two of them? I don't want two primary
antibodies bumping into each other and not being able to sit peacefully
side by side.

In other words: how much space an immunoglobulin requires besides the
epitope itself?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Please kindly consider emailing your response to me in addition to your
posting. My address is mtuvin at bcm.tmc.edu

Thank you
Michael Tuvim
