Not necessarily. If the subunits are crosslinked by SS-bridges, they will definitely
stay together under non-reducing conditions. But I know of at least one example,
L-leucin dehydrogenase from Bacillus subtilis, where the electric field during native
PAGE is not strong enough to disrupt the bond between the subunits caused by hydrophobic
or salt-bridges.
