sansevieria leaf trouble

I've had a sanseviera (mother-in-law's tongue) plant for over four
years. Most of the leaves are 2+ feet tall. In late spring, I
transplanted it to a 12" diameter pot with normal potting soil. Since
then, some of the leaves have 'crumpled' or bent near the base and
flopped over. What causes this and should I repot back to a smaller pot
(it's probably not root-bound)? Also, should I remove the bent leaves
at the base? Please email at kak9 at cornell.edu. Thank you. Karena Kosco
