As a pharmacognosist I wonder why in certain countries the Ice plant
(Mesembryanthemum crystallinum L.) is on the negative plant list, whereas
in other countries this plant is eaten, after keeping it in boiled water
for some time, is eaten as salad or spinach. Has it something to do with
mesembrine that is present in some Mesembryanthemum species like M.
expansum and M. tortuosum ?
