do plants generate heat?

Well, some plants do generate heat. Voodoo Liliy e.g. warms up its
inflorescence by 7 degrees Celsius in order to make some pheromones
volatile. It is regulated by the alternative oxidase pathway in
mitochondria.
Also, some members of the Annonaceae and Araceae family do the same.

Hope this helps you out a bit,

Best wishes,
