CONTROLLING EXOTIC PLANTS: Restoring Native Habitats, Tuesday, July 15,
1997, 7-9pm Peninsula Conservation Center, 3921 East Bayshore Road, Palo
Alto, (East of Hwy. 101 - between San Antonio Road and Embarcadero), For
more information call 415-968-7243

Many invasive, non-native plants were originally brought to the Bay Area
by, people who admired their ornamental qualities. However, many of these
species now pose a serious threat to the survival and integrity of native
ecosystems. Biologists now believe that the loss of habitat to non-native
species rivals urbanization as a threat to biodiversity. Join us for an
informative and inspiring workshop by Ken Moore of the well known
Wildlands Restoration Team with updates by local groups currently doing
habitat restoration work along the coast, Santa Cruz Mountains, at
Arastradero Preserve, Edgewood Park and in Yosemite. Learn about exotic
plants in your own backyard and what you can do hands on to help preserve
the vitality of our natural California native heritage. No admission fee.
$5 Donation suggested.Source: Environmental Forum; includes Bay Area
Action, Sierra Club, Committee for Green Foothills & others.
