Cypripedium transplantation; micorhizae

Has anyone in the US (or any where else) had much luck in transplanting
Lady Slippers (Cypripedium sp.) to a home garden? I've been told that
the species of particular interest- C. acaule- grows in pine forests in
calcareous soil and depend on a micorhizal fungus to maintain a healthy
state of being. Is it possible to "seed" an area with decaying pine
needles and transplant the orchids to an area where there no pine trees,
assuming that you "feed" the bed new pine needles at regular intervals?
Also, does anyone know the nomenclature of the fungi which the orchids
are dependant?
