A hybrid is defined as the F1 progeny produced by repetitive crossing of
two or more parental lines (Hartmann, Kester, Davies. Plant
Propagation: Principles And Practices. Prentice-Hall, 1990). There is
a nice diagramatic and written description of hybrid production on pages
82 and 83. The book does a much better job than I could do.
Good Luck.
