I have a Harry Lauder Walking Stick bush, that has made considerable
growth over the last fifteen years. It does sucker readily with straight
stems, that grow straight up maybe 10 or fifteen feet in a season. It's a
seasonal chore to trim them back - done I might add from a rather awkward
position. Is there anything I can coat this area with (after pruning) to
minimize this unwanted kind of growth? I am quite satisfied with the
growth of the shrub itself.
