What to do w/tulip bulbs -too cold to pla

Plant them.  Now.

I still remember one cold fall in Idaho when I had to break through 2
inches of frozen soil to get to the "soft" soil below to plant tulips.
(Now here is a dedicated bulb lover!)  

How many is "lots?"  If less than 50, you could just plant them3- 4" deep
in 6" or wider pots, set the pots outside on the North side of the house
where they will stay frozen and won't be subject to rapid swings in
temperature, then put the pots in the sun when the shoots come up in the
Spring..
