Position Announcement

POSITION:  Assistant  professor in higher plant development, Department of
Biology, Colorado State University.  This tenure-track position involves
undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervised research (approximately
fifty percent), research (approximately thirty-five percent), and service
(approximately fifteen percent).

RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position involves a strong teaching commitment,
including a course in Introductory Biology/Botany and advanced courses,
both undergraduate and graduate,  in the successful candidate's area of
expertise.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop an
independent, externally-funded research program in contemporary plant
developmental biology.  Abundant opportunities exist for collaboration with
biologists within the department as well as in other departments and
colleges within the University.  

QUALIFICATIONS:  A Ph.D. in plant science or a related area is required. 
Postdoctoral experience is strongly preferred.  Candidates should have a
solid background in plant biology, evidence of potential for independent
and innovative research and teaching, and a willingness to cooperate with a
broad spectrum of plant scientists on campus.

SALARY:  Commensurate with education and experience.

POSITION AVAILABLE:  Fall semester, 1996 (pending funding).
