PHD STUDENTSHIP IN THE BIOLOGY OF MICROBE-PLANT INTERACTION
Applications are invited for a PhD studentship to work on gene expression
levels and levels of metabolic activity of the endophytic fungus
Acremonium lolii during its growth within the ryegrass Lolium perenne.
These will be assessed as reporter gene activity in the endophyte by
fluorometry and fluorescence microscopy of dissected plants.
The tenure of the studentship is three years. It provides an annual
tax-free stipend of $NZ 17,940.00. It also includes tuition fees up to
$NZ 1,300.00. (This covers tuition costs completely for students from New
Zealand, Australia and several other countries, e.g. France and Germany.)
The studentship is available immediately.
Enquiries or applications (including CV and the names of two referees)
should be sent to: Dr. Jan Schmid, Dept. of Microbiology and Genetics,
Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand.
